GALLERY WRAPS - CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES

There is a disturbing idea that has surfaced in the photographic industry recently. It's not new, since it was a fad many years ago. It is the canvas gallery wrap and it will cost you money in the long run!

Some labs are offering to process your prints on canvas, and then wrap them around a wood form, to then sell as a complete ‘framed' product. There are five things that you should consider, prior to committing to this method of merchandising your portraiture.

• First, your loyal customers patronize your studio all year long. How many have quality picture frames that they will want to match, when the next family event occurs? If they don't find these frames in your showroom, will they go elsewhere?
• Second, when this gallery wrap fad ends, and it will end, what happens to your customers who come back to match those items? They will be confused and not be sure what to do.
• Third, the cost of your canvas, plus mounted wrap, don't compare to the profit made from a traditional print and a quality frame. Are you will ing to give up your second largest profit producer for a fad?
• Fourth, there is no protection for your valuable print. If it should be damaged by you or your client, a new one will have to be produced.
• Lastly, if you want to offer something unique, let us create a special frame for you, with either a shadow box frame, or any of our regular frames, using a deep scoop linen liner.. This will allow you to put the canvas wrap inside or on a beautiful frame, giving a feeling of depth.
